Main Street Bethlehem - Family Event

Join your CrossPointe Family as we travel to Burnet together on Sunday, December 12. We will leave from the church at 4:30pm. Please sign up to let me know if you need a ride, are willing to drive and have room for others, you will provide you own transportation from the church, or you will meet us in Burnet. Please bring a sack dinner and drinks for your family. The Women’s Ministry Team will provide desserts. We will either have a tail gate dinner in Burnet or will eat while we wait in line. This Christmas, visit Bethlehem . . . in Burnet Texas . . . as the ancient city of Christ’s birth comes alive again.

Feel the anticipation of Joseph and Mary approaching the gates, urgency quickening their steps.

Pick your way through transients, peddlers, the crippled, and aged in the town’s fringe. Experience the presence of animals as they affect all aspects of life in that time . . . camels, donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, and doves.
Explore the narrow streets to faint strains of ancient music and savor the smells of fresh goat butter, campfires, and hot bread. Then immerse yourself in the din of the marketplace; the revelers in the tavern, shouted insults to and from the Roman oppressors, merchants, craftspeople, taxpayers, and beggars all seeking money, or position, or revenge.

Search for the inn, only to find it full (as others did long ago). Then follow the trail to the cave where a road-weary couple has moved in with the animals, their place in God’s plan and secular history to be made secure on this night. For the child in their arms was the incarnation of God Himself, come to the world that all who would place their faith in Him might enjoy eternal fellowship in His presence.

The hours are 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Main Street Bethlehem is two blocks east of the town square in Burnet, TX. Admission is free (donations are accepted). Free refreshments served at exit. As this is an outdoor presentation, it is canceled in rainy weather.

Bible Studies

The bible study for this Fall is "The Key to Living By Faith" the study of Hebrews by Kay Arthur. The morning group meets on Thursday’s from 9:45am – 11:45am in room 110 at CrossPointe Church starting on September 2nd. Childcare is provided for this study.

The Wednesday evening group will meet from 7:00pm – 8:30pm at CrossPointe Church and will begin on Sept 8th. Childcare is not provided for the evening study.

Fall Retreat - Women of Faith Conference in SA

The CrossPointe Women's Ministry is planning to attend the Women of Faith Conference in San Antonio, Oct. 22-23 at the Alamodome. This will be our Fall Retreat. The tickets are $89 and that includes conference on Friday during the day with a box lunch, conference Friday night, and conference on Saturday with a box lunch. Hotel and other meals are extra. Join us on Sunday, November 7th as we make bookmarks for our missionaries wives and for a ladies missions group in Niger (We need approx 75 made.)
All CrossPointe ladies, friends and daughters are invited. We will meet in classroom 110 at CrossPointe after the Worship Service. Please bring any craft supplies you have and a brown bag lunch. We will have paper, stamps, pens, scissors, glue, beads, and ribbon.

Presbytery Service Opportunity

CrossPointe Church is hosting the Presbytery gathering next weekend, and we have an opportunity to serve by providing breakfast on Saturday morning, October 31st. Please email me to let me know if you can help out by providing a breakfast item to be delivered between 7:00am – 8:00am next Saturday. If the early deliver time is an issue, please let me know, and we can try to work something out. Please let me know what you are planning to bring so that we can make sure everything is covered. There are usually 15-20 at 7:00am and then 50 by midmorning. They would like warm casseroles at 7am for about 20 and then breads, pastries, fruit and other snacks for about 40-50 after 8am to about 10:30am.

Esther: It’s Tough Being a Woman. Going up against heavyweights bent on her destruction, Esther trusted God and landed a blow that saved her people. The Old Testament story of Esther is a profile in courage and contains many modern parallels for today's woman. Esther's destiny can be yours as you know more deeply the God who is in your corner.

Georgetown Christmas Tour of Homes

There’s been a change regarding the women’s outing on December 13. Instead of going to the Bastrop Christmas Tour of Homes, we are going to head to Georgetown for the Christmas Tour of Homes there. We will meet at the Georgetown Visitors Center off the square shortly before noon to purchase tickets ($10) for the noon tour. If you can’t make it to the tour, but would like to join the group for dessert, we are meeting at Zoe’s on the square at 2:30pm. Please bring a container to take your treats home. In addition to the traditional exchange, we will be using one dozen from each set of cookies to build holiday platters for The Inn Project and Williamson County Crisis Center.

Craft Night - Tuesday, November 11

We are having a craft night on Tuesday, November 11th from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at the church. There are three items to choose from. You can make any or all of them, and you can make as many as you want to make. There’s a small material charge for each item, and you must sign up to indicate which items you want to make so that we can purchase the supplies needed. The items are shown above.

The Thankful Book is $3 per book, and you must bring 5-6 photos (4x6 size) of things/people you are thankful for to be used in each book. The Decorative Tile is $1and the Decorative Plate is $2.50. We will supply everything needed.

If you have left-over Thanksgiving or Christmas napkins that you can donate, please bring them. We can use any pretty paper napkins that you would like to bring.

Childcare will be provided, but you must sign up to reserve your spot. The sign up sheet for the crafts and for childcare will be at the table in the foyer. You can also email Terri to sign up. Please indicate the craft items that you want to make and whether or not you need child care.

This Tuesday night, October 21st, the women of CrossPointe are getting together to play BUNKO. Please join us, even if you have never played. It’s a very easy game to learn, and you might even win one of several prizes.

If you would like to bring a food item (either an appetizer or dessert), please do so. If you have something around the house that you don't use any more, or received a gift that wasn’t “you”, bring it as a prize. If you can’t bring food or prize, come anyway! The more the merrier.

Thankful Hybrid Scrapbook - Fall Craft Night

The date for the Thankful Hybrid Scrapbook craft night has been changed. The original date was Wednesday, Nov 12, but we wanted to make sure all the ladies in the Wednesday night Journey groups could attend. The new date is Tuesday, Nov 11, just one day earlier. We are also going to offer an alternative Fall craft item for those ladies that would rather not make a book. Stop by the Women’s Ministry table in the foyer on Sunday to see the craft items and to sign up. There will be a small material charge for each item. Women of Worship (WOW) 2008-2009

Please plan to attend the first ever Women of Worship (WOW) on Saturday, September 27 from 8:00am - 10:00am at the church. You can learn more about this event in the information below.

Quarterly, we will gather as women to fellowship, walk along side each other, and continue to learn and see how beautiful we are to the LORD. On set Saturday mornings from 8-10 am (so the rest of the day is free for family and sports), we’ll meet to enjoy a small brunch, sing praises, corporately pray for our families and trials, and take part in a devotional through which we will contrast the world’s view of our worth and beauty to how our LORD sees our beauty and worth. It is obvious the world has embarked on a full on attack on girls and women through a distorted perspective of what beauty is. Each of us carries some kind of hurt or scar in regards to this devastating ongoing delude. This type of building up is for all ladies 13 years of age and up so please plan to come and bring your teenage daughters. There is no pre-work to be done in advance, but there will be opportunity to dig deeper should you be interested in it.

We say we are strong and sure, that we don’t long to be held and protected, or we convince ourselves that this question isn’t ours to ask, that beautiful can never be said of us. In this study, we will be helped to recover this secret longing of our hearts and embrace the One who finds us unspeakably desirable. We will finally see ourselves as the woman God created and loves.”

Fall Festival, Anyone?

We are thinking about having a Fall Festival on Sunday, Nov 2 at the church, but wanted to see if we would have enough leaders and helpers before we commit to the event. The event would consist of activities such as "Trick-or-Treat-a-Trunk", where each family can decorate the trunk of their car, possibly dress up in fun themes and hand out candy to the children as they walk through the parking lot. We could have free pop-corn and snow cones, a cake walk and other games. We could also have an inexpensive dinner offered (hot-dogs/chips) and will give prizes to the best costumes, best-dressed truck, etc. Please contact Karen at withfam@yahoo.com if you are interested in helping with this event.

Women's Weekly Bible Study

The weekly Women’s Bible Study will resume on Thursday, September 11th. Join us for the Beth Moore study entitled “A Heart Like His” every Thursday from 9:45am – 11:30am at CrossPointe Church. Visit the women’s ministry table in the foyer for more information. Free childcare is provided.

A Heart Like His: Seeking the Heart of God Through a Study of David by Beth Moore is an 11-week in-depth study of King David, focusing on his years as God's chosen king of Israel. Beth invites you to join her on an exciting and intimate journey to know King David, the man after God's own heart. On this journey you will experience the ups and downs of the shepherd king, and you will come to know and love his God in a new way.

In this study David will make you laugh and cry. He will delight and disappoint you. He will make you want to be just like him at times and nothing like him at others. The study demonstrates how God loved and was able to use David despite his disobedience, and it offers many lessons for those seeking to have a heart like God's.

Natalie Grant Concert

Komen Austin Race for the Cure

Several women from CrossPointe Church are planning to walk or run in the Komen Austin Race for the Cure. The race is scheduled for Sunday, November 2 at 8:00 and is a 5K (3.1 mile) race. Salad Supper

Please join the Women’s Ministry Team for a Salad Supper on August 4th at Terri Montgomery’s house. We will gather around 6:30pm for salads, dessert and fellowship. Please bring a salad to share and feel free to bring a friend or two. No sign up is required, just show up!

Terri’s address is 2701 Creek Bend Circle in Round Rock. This will be a monthly fellowship event for women, held on the first Monday of the month.

Several ladies requested Lisa Spangenberg's notes from her talk at the Sunday morning worship service. Lisa provided the following:

What do God’s Shears Look Like, especially for women? (from Secrets of the Vine, by Darlene Wilkinson).

1. Priorities that need to be re-arranged
2. Relationships that need to change or end
3. Busyness that isn’t accomplishing what matters most
4. Dependencies or attachments that we’re ready to grow out of
5. Personal “rights” that God is asking us to surrender to Him.

A great quote from the author:
“I grew up believing that everything I love, treasure, enjoy and consider good on earth is a gift from God. But I didn’t understand that every gift in this life has a time limit. People die, possessions can be destroyed, and positions taken away. That’s just the way life is. And if I assume that everything I hold in my hand today is mine to keep, I will be deeply disappointed. Ultimately, I’ll begin to question God’s character and His intentions toward me – and that can spell big trouble. So, besides keeping my hands open, I’ve imagined a place for an expiration date written on the back of each treasure in my life. Then I leave it up to God to fill in that date. Why not? He is the only one who knows my future anyway. And He is the only one who knows what would be best for me. As David wrote,” But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your hand.” Psalm 31:14-15
